Lake Tahoe, May 2002

Sunset on Lake Tahoe. This was taken from the back of the condo complex we stayed at (Tahoe Beach & Ski Club ).

One of the most beautiful bay's in the world (I don't know if anyone's said that, but they should have). The tiny island is named Fannette Island, for the trivia buffs out there. We took a couple of hikes around the bay -- a 6-mile walk from Rubicon Point to Emerald Bay and back, and a short but steep 3-mile hike down to Vikingsholm, and up to Lower Eagle Falls (and back).

Here we are at Lower Eagle Falls. This falls is actually visible from the Vikingsholm Lookout (on our year-end letter), but it's much more impressive up close like this.

Ken relaxing along the easy, but long, Rubicon Trail to Emerald Bay.

Fallen Leaf Lake, a beautiful small lake just minutes from Lake Tahoe. That's Mt. Tallac in the background, one of the highest peaks around Tahoe's south shore. We took a pleasant, couple-mile hike along the lake's shore one morning.

This is one of two waterfalls on Glen Alpine Creek, near Fallen Leaf Lake.

The other Glen Alpine Creek waterfall.

(Edited 05/04) And if you believe that, I have a bridge you may be interested in buying. That's the same waterfall, taken from a different angle. If you want to see the other ones (turns out there are at least 3), you'll have to see our 2004 trip to Lake Tahoe.

It was a challenging hike up to Granite Lake. Several times we were afraid we were going to lose the trail in the snow, but each time, we eventually picked it up again. It was also quite steep in the beginning, but it was well worth the 3+ mile roundtrip walk.

(Edited 05/04) However, the above picture is of Eagle Lake, not Granite Lake, since we didn't take our camcorder with us on this hike. :-) If you want to see Granite Lake, you'll have to see our 2004 trip to Lake Tahoe.
